2023

  • Jan. 2 Jingyuan Deng (Bruce, who graduated from NU-G30-Chem-Eng undergraduate program in 2016 and has been doing research at Cornell University) informed us that he received a Ph.D. degree from the Chemistry and Chemical Biology program at Cornell University last summer and is now working in the industry in the Bay Area. Congratulations!

  • Jan. 5 It was informed that Nguyá»…n Xuan Bạch (who graduated from NU-G30-Chem-Sci undergraduate program in 2021 and advanced into a Ph.D. program at Duke University) had received a prestigious award in evolutionary medicine. (refer to https://www.biochem.duke.edu/news/phd-student-bach-nguyen-selected-sit-international-student-advisory-board) Congratulations!​

  • Jan. 15 Nathan Hikaru Faialaga (who graduated from NU-G30-Chem-Eng undergraduate program in 2017 and advanced into a Ph.D. program at MIT) has finished his Ph.D. degree at MIT and was promoted to a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard University. Congratulations!​

  • Feb. 20 Lester Yang visited Nagoya University: He finished his Bachelor's degree from the NU-G30-Chem-Sci program in 2019 and his Master's degree from Berkeley University. He is currently working at Logitech. It was very nice to see him again! 

  • March There is another piece of happy news that Dr. Sapna Sinha (G30-Chem-Eng alumnus) will have her wedding in March 2024, in India.  Congratulations! 

  • May.23 Letitia Sarah visited Nagoya University: She finished her Bachelor's degree from the NU-G30-Chem-Sci program and is doing her Ph.D. degree at University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). It was very delightful to meet her again! 

  • Sep.26 We had the students' guidance followed by a welcome party for G30-Chem-Sci and G30-Chem-Eng first-year students. 2023, we have four students in G30-Chem-Eng program and seven students in G30-Chem-Sci. All new students! Congratulations. 

  • Sep. 27 We had the graduation ceremony for graduating students from NU. Congratulations.

  • Oct. 5 Hiroaki Hashimoto visited Nagoya University: He finished his Bachelor's degree from the NU-G30-Chem-Eng program. He is currently working at P&G. It was very nice to see him again! 

  • Nov. 28 There was an extremely happy news that Dr. Nathan Faialaga (G30-Chem-Eng alumnus) and Masami Hazu (G30-Bio-Sci alumnus) got engaged (informed by Nov. 28. 2023). Congratulations! ​​​​​​​​​​

  • ​Jan. 19  Raashidah Tan (Former student of NU-G30-Sci, Bachelor's degree) visited Nagoya University. He is currently working for Woven by Toyota, Inc.  It was very nice to see her again!

  • Mar. 7  Prof. Shin met Suk Han Jeong, a former G30-Chem-Sci undergraduate student who received his master's degree from Edinburgh University. They attended an InterBattery event together. It was a very productive and valuable time!

  • Mar. 22 Vivid and Abninav got accepted to the G30-Chem-Eng Graduate Program at Nagoya University.  Congratulations!  

  • Apr. 1  Aron and Mike joined the respective research groups of Professor Murakami and Professor Kamigaito. We wish them great successes.

  • 2024 Spring semester starts on Apr. 10 (Wed).  Professor Shin serves FC2 (Tue, 2nd, LAS room C34, for freshmen), COC (Tue, 5th, room 141, for graduate students), OC2 (Wed, 2nd, room 141, for 2nd-year students), and OC4 (Thu, 1st, room 141, for 3rd-year students). 

  • Apr. 14 NU-G30-Chem-Eng Students and Prof. Shin got the spring picnic (Ha-na-mi) at Tsurumai park (3:30pm on Apr. 14).

  • There is excellent news that Amogh Sood (NU-G30-Chem-Eng Bachelor) defended his thesis and completed his Ph.D. from MIT. Congratulations!

  • Jun. 10 There were graduation defenses for Bachelor's degrees (G30-Chem-Eng), and Mr. Vivid and Mr. Abhinav presented their respective graduation research. Congratulations on a job well done.

  • Jun. 24 There were graduation defenses for Bachelor's and Master's degrees in G30-Chem-Sci, and all students presented excellent research.  Congratulations.  

  • Aug. 22 The NU-G30-Chem-Eng program hosted Master's defenses, where Mr. Duc An Truong and Mr. Nguyen Kim Chung confidently presented their graduation research, respectively. Let's congratulate them on this magnificent achievement.

  • Sep. 24 A course guidance and welcome party was organized for new students, including undergraduate first-year students and graduate M1 and D1 students of the NU-G30-Chem-Eng and NU-G30-Chem-Sci programs. 

  • Sep. 25 A joint graduation celebration party was organized for graduates of the Nagoya University's G30 programs, including bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees.  

  • Sep. 26 The graduation ceremony of Nagoya University was held for the graduates (bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degree). Congratulations!

  • Oct. 1 The entrance ceremony of Nagoya University was held for the 1st year students (bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degree programs). Congratulations!

  • Oct. 2  Fall semester starts on Oct. 2 (Wed).  Professor Shin serves OC1 (Thu, 4th, 141), OC3 (Tue, 1st, 141), and OC5 (Fri, 2nd, 141).

  • Oct. 16 Former students (2013 enrollee) Nathan Hikaru Faialaga (Chem-Eng), Jonathan Totoro Li (Chem-Eng), Po-Cheng Chen (Elec-Eng), Jen-Yin Cheng (Elec-Eng), and Masami Hazu (Bio-Sci) who received their bachelor degrees from the G30 program of Nagoya University got together in Japan and kindly stopped by Nagoya University to visit Prof. Shin. We had an excellent meeting.   

  • Nov. 18 Bach Nguyen informed me of the happy news that he published a part of his PhD research achievement in JACS (J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2024, 146, 46, 31715-31732) from Duke University. 

  • Dec. 14 Dr. Nathan Faialaga informed me of the happy news that his work has been accepted into ACIE (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 10.1002/anie.202422120 ) from Harvard University.​​​
